AN ANCIENT GUIDE TO A LIFE FULFILLED

The West has a history and a heritage of appropriating indigenous customs, beliefs and traditions. Colonization runs deep in our inheritance. It's a challenging truth that is often easier to avoid because it challenges everything we know, what we've been taught, our way of life. But facing it is necessary to restore balance, connection, equilibrium. In the West's race to steal what suits our interests we've diminished the ancient history and knowledge that indigenous people's have known for generations, for centuries.

 

The philosophy of yoga goes back millennia and we're watering it down at a rapid pace. The yoga we know today hasn't been around all that long. In fact the real trend of it — the physical practice — has really only been around for about 100 years. Asana is one of Patanjali's 8 limbs, but it isn't as central as we've made it out to be. In the Yoga Sutras, the space Patanjali gives asana only makes up about 2%. That's a very small percentage of the whole. That means 98% of the Yoga Sutras talks about everything but asana.

But if yoga is only 2% of the whole of yogic philosophy, what makes up the rest?

 

Great question!

 

The other 7 limbs are — the Yamas, the niyamas, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.​ Yoga is a whole way of life. A whole, complete approach to how we live and move through this world. The 8 limbs are a process to restore the mind-body-soul connection, which is the whole meaning of yoga. Patanjali's 8 limbs cover our whole interaction with life — moving from the most external, the Yamas, to the most internal, Samadhi. It's comprehensive. To truly practice yoga, a practice in each limb is necessary.

Dr. Haridass Kaur teaches people how to access and activate their wisdom, strength, joy and personal freedom through the practice of Kundalini Yoga. She is the founder of Infinite Goddess School of Human Advancement and an International Lead Teacher Trainer. She will teach the History of Yoga, Awakening the Consciousness, and Humanology modules.

WHAT?

A 12-hour immersion into Patanjali's 8 Limbed Path of Yoga, where you will learn the philosophy, history and practices of all 8 limbs, and walk away with a greater understanding of what it means to practice yoga on and off the mat.

July 7th – August 15th 2021

  • 8 Saturdays from 10 am - 11:30 am (12 hours of online training and 40 hours of homework)

WHAT TO EXPECT

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

WEEKEND TRAINING SESSIONS

You will attend 180-hours of live training sessions, with the option to attend in-person in Phoenix, or online via Zoom. These sessions take place across 10 weekends. Guest Teacher sessions will take place online only for all students.

PERSONAL PRACTICE &

PRACTICE TEACHING

In between the training weekends, you will meet with your mini groups remotely for practice teaching and group study. You will also be assigned 40-hours of personal practice and homework.

  • Complete all 200-hour coursework, practice teaching, and homework

  • Attendance at all 10 weekend sessions — with opportunities to make up work in the event of absences

  • Teach in the practice teaching sessions within your mini group

  • Create your own lesson plan for a 2-hour Beginners Kundalini Yoga Workshop

  • Complete the final teaching practicum, where you record yourself teaching a full Kundalini yoga class (kriya and meditation)

  • Pass the multiple choice and short answer final exam

  • Complete a 40-day personal practice

  • Take 20 Kundalini Yoga classes during or after the completion of training

  • Participate in either a Rebirthing Weekend in Sedona, AZ or White Tantric (more details TBA)

Can I teach with this certification?

Yes! This KRI™ Level 1 and Yoga Alliance approved course will provide you with a teaching certification, which you can use to teach at yoga studios, online, or in specialized settings.

Can I participate from home?

Yes, this training is truly a hybrid course. You can choose to attend in-person if you live in the Phoenix, AZ area, you can attend online via Zoom, or you can do a combination of the two options. Some sessions with Guest Teachers will take place online only. Also, all live sessions are recorded, so in the event of an absence, you will be able to make up the work.

What COVID-19 precautions are in place?

We will follow all state and federal pandemic guidelines for your safety. In-person space is limited to comply with social distancing requirements. And the training is designed as a hybrid course with the option to fully participate online for students who prefer to learn from home.
